An arched shower entry, a curved tiled bench, and a homeowner who got her bathroom back in days — here’s how it came together.

Intro#

We just wrapped a full bathroom gut in Galloway, NJ, and it’s one we’re genuinely proud to show off.

Old tub, dated tile, and a cramped step-up shower — out. In its place: a walk-in shower with a custom arched entry, a frameless sliding glass door, a curved tiled bench, heated floors, and a vanity finished in warm stone and copper.

This is what a bathroom remodel with HousePro actually looks like. Here’s a walk through the project, room by room.

Demo First: Tub Out, Old Tile Out#

Before any of the finish work you see below could happen, our crew stripped the room to the studs.

That meant pulling the old tub, the shower tile and plumbing trim, the step-up into the shower, the toilet, and the old in-floor heat and flooring — then hauling it all away and re-framing the space for the new layout.

Dust control and floor protection stayed up for the entire job, because it’s still the homeowner’s house while we’re working in it.

The Arched Shower Entry#

This is the feature that makes the whole room. We framed a custom arched entry into the shower and tiled every surface of it — face, soffit, and return.

That means it reads as one continuous piece rather than a doorway bolted onto a box. A frameless sliding glass door sits inside the arch, so the shape stays the star instead of getting boxed in by hardware.

Inside the Shower: Recessed Floor, Accent Wall, Rain Shower#

Once the entry was framed, we built a new recessed shower floor system and waterproofed the whole wet area before a single tile went up.

That step doesn’t show in the after photos, but it’s the reason this shower will still look right in ten years.

The back wall gets a dark accent tile that contrasts against the warmer field tile on the side walls, with a large recessed niche cut in for shampoo and soap.

Fixtures are a rain shower head, a handheld wand, and matching valve trim in matte black — picking up the black grout lines in the accent tile.

The Bench: Curved, Tiled, Built to Order#

Prefab benches are flat and square because flat and square is cheap to make.

We built this one on site instead — a custom tiled bench with a curved front edge that follows the corner of the shower instead of fighting it.

It’s a small detail, but it’s the kind of thing that separates a shower that was installed from a shower that was designed.

New Floors, New Toilet, New Doors#

Outside the shower, the whole bathroom got new in-floor heat and new tile flooring — no more cold feet stepping out in January.

A new toilet went in against a tiled half-wall with a stone cap. The vanity area picked up a stone-topped double vanity with copper vessel sinks and matte black fixtures, lit by a real window instead of just can lights.

We also framed and installed three new interior doors as part of this project — the bedroom closet, the hallway, and the bedroom itself — including a set of frosted sliding barn doors that keep the hallway feeling open.

Every wet area got caulked and sealed before we called it finished, and we walked the whole job with the homeowner room by room before we left — no punch list left hanging.

A Shout-Out to Matt Baranyay, Our Project Manager#

Projects like this don’t come together on their own.

Matt Baranyay, our project manager based in Toms River, ran this job day to day — coordinating the crew, keeping the schedule tight, and making sure the homeowner always knew what was happening next.

Matt’s one of the reasons a job this detailed still finished on time. If you’re remodeling anywhere near the Shore or South Jersey, there’s a good chance he’ll be the one you’re talking to.
